Estonia and Latvia

It was time to get out for a bit of a walk so we stopped at this park in Salacgriva. This memorial was built in 1986 to Soviet sailors who died in WW11. The Germans, Russians, Poles and the Swedes had all invaded Latvia at some point. It was part of the Russian Empire since the end of the 18th century but after the Russian Revolution of 1917 became an independent state.
